Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that NATO, through its supply of arms to Ukraine, is essentially engaged in a shadow war with Russia. Therefore, he warned that the risk of nuclear conflict cannot be underestimated by the West.

In an extensive interview with state television on Monday (April 25th), he said that the basis for any agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine depends largely on the actual military situation. News Reuters.

Lavrov was questioned about the importance of avoiding World War III. He was asked if the current situation was comparable to the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. At that time, US-Soviet relations were at an all-time low.

In response, he said Russia was adamant in its policy of refraining from nuclear war at any cost. This is our most important position. But the risks that are currently being posed are considerable.

"We do not want to artificially increase these risks," he said. But many want it. The world is at grave risk. We cannot take such a situation lightly.

Russia's military campaign in neighboring countries is set to fall in the third month. This is the biggest attack in any European country since 1945. It has so far claimed thousands of lives and caused widespread humanitarian catastrophe. Cities and towns in Ukraine have been reduced to rubble.

Since the beginning of this war, 5 million people have become refugees. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to disarm and liberate Ukraine.

Lavrov blamed the United States for not holding talks, justifying Russia's actions. "We want to protect Russians living in Ukraine," he said. That is why the United States has withdrawn from virtually all agreements.

The United States has taken a number of provocative measures, including the supply of anti-tank javelin missiles, armored vehicles and sophisticated drones to Ukraine. According to Lavrov, instead of ending so many wars, it will be more lasting.

He said the weapons would be a legitimate target for the Russian military. The arsenal in western Ukraine has been attacked more than once. What else can be done? War means war. NATO is basically involved in a shadow war with us.

The Russian foreign minister said authorities in Kiev did not attend the meeting with confidence. And President Volodymyr Zelensky is like British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He is playing with the people without continuing the discussion or solving the problem.
