A survey by Stand-Up Movement, a non-governmental organization that works with sex workers in Sri Lanka, found that a large number of citizens, especially women, lost their jobs after the crisis. On the one hand, the job market is lamenting, on the other hand, the market rate is in poor condition. In order to survive in this situation, many forbidden places have been built in the country. Body trade in the country has increased by 30 percent in just a few months.

The research shows that those who are newly involved in the body business, they used to work in various organizations including the textile sector. They are in trouble by losing their jobs. On this occasion, the country has developed a variety of sex parks. Since, an ever increasing number of ladies are compelled to pick sex fill in as a calling to make money. Some of these sanctuaries have been developed as spas and wellness centers. Numerous ladies say there is just a single method for taking care of their family three feasts every day.

Ashila Dandinia, Executive Director of Stand-Up Movement, said that due to the economic crisis, many women workers have been laid off from work in the textile sector. They are forced to choose sex. With regards to the ongoing emergency, we have seen that more ladies have begun their professions as sex laborers. Most of them came from the textile sector. After the crown pandemic, the material area has endured. Many women lost their jobs. Also, the ongoing tough spot has constrained them to participate in sex work for job.

In Sri Lanka, these women who are engaging in sex work, they earn 20-30 thousand rupees a month by working in the textile industry. And now he is earning 15-20 thousand rupees a day by body trade. But while earning this income they have to face many health and safety issues.

Meanwhile, about 6.3 million people in Sri Lanka are suffering from food insecurity, said Abdur Rahim Siddiqui, Country Director of the United Nations World Food Program. He said that inflation in the country will take a more tragic form in the coming days.
