Another piece of bad news before the Edgbaston Test overcame a huge 6-wicket haul against England. Due to the slow over rate, Team India has been fined 40 per cent of the match fee as well as their two points in the World Test Championship.

Match referee David Boone accused India of slow over rate in the ICC Code of Conduct for two overs short of the target. No hearing was required as India captain Jaspreet Bumrah admitted the allegations.



According to Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct, the slow over rate provides for a team to be fined 20 per cent of the match fee for each over. According to Article 16.11.2, each team can deduct one point from the table of the ICC World Test Championship for each over at a slow over rate.

With this, India lost five points in the Test Championship. Earlier, they had scored two points in Nottingham and one point in Centurion for the same offense.



Earlier, England chased down a big target of 36 runs against India at Edgbaston and left the field with a big victory of 8 wickets. In that victory they have set multiple records. It is the highest run-scoring record in Test history. Which is again the highest in Edgbaston. India has never lost with such a big target.



Bairstow was unbeaten on the 28th century of his Test career, Root and the 12th century. Their unbeaten partnership of 279 runs is the 15th highest run partnership of the English. Root was unbeaten on 142 off 173 balls with 19 fours and a six. Barestore batted 114 runs off 145 balls with 15 fours and one six.
