Alastair Cook made his first-class cricket debut for Essex in 2003 against Nottinghamshire. After that, on the way to becoming a master of English cricket, he has built a lot of fame. Cook became the fifth highest run-scorer in the history of Test cricket before retiring in 2018 after making his England debut in 2006. Has become the captain of the England Test team. In the year following his retirement from the national team, England also received a knighthood for his outstanding contribution to cricket, with 'Sir' sitting before the name.

With so much success in the crown of his career, it was a pity in his career not to score a pair of centuries in his first-class career. Despite playing more than 300 first-class matches in his 20-year career, Cook has never scored a century in two innings of a match. But this time he is the most successful opener in the history of England. For the first time in first-class cricket, the Essex left-arm batsman hit a century in both innings.

Cook also scored a century in the second innings after the first innings of the match between Essex and Yorkshire, which began on May 5. He scored 107 in the first innings and 102 not out in the second innings.

Cook had previously scored 70 centuries in first-class cricket. The number of his centuries in this match stood at 72! There are four cricketers in history who have played more matches than Cook and then scored a double century. English cricketer Patsy Hendren scored a pair of centuries after scoring the most 84 centuries. Another English batsman John Hearney (81), legendary English batsman Graham Gooch (77) and former Pakistan captain Majid Khan (71) had two centuries each.

If you calculate the time, of course the number is three. The longest awaited record is by John Hearney. He had to wait for 23 years to get his double century. Majid waited 22 years and Hendren 21 years.
