At the time, he said, even though one child was not born every 12 seconds, a Facebook account was being opened every 12 seconds.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the Madaripur Deputy Commissioner's Conference Room on Thursday (June 9).
The Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) also said that no mobile operator has the capacity to provide adequate service to the customers in the country. All companies are being pressured to use fiber cable to provide proper customer service. If this fiber cable can be used everywhere, the correct service of the customer can be ensured.
In 2006, the number of mobile phone users in the country was two crore, but in 2022, it stood at 18 crore 34 lakh. Whereas 15 lakh subscribers used internet in 2006, 12 crore 42 lakh people used internet in 2022. Of these, 7 crore 53 lakh 80 thousand (75.38 million) people use Forge (4G) alone, he said.
He said the number of social media users among them is 52.8 million (52.8 million).
