Russia expects 200 billion in trade by 2024

Russia hopes to trade 200 billion US dollars with China by 2024. The news was reported by Qatar-based Al Jazeera, citing Interfax news agency.

A statement from Russia's foreign ministry said plans were afoot to increase trade and commerce with China.

Interfax says Russia is now turning its attention to its predecessor, China, amid sanctions and hostility from Western countries, including the United States and Europe, following the attack on Ukraine.

Russia's foreign ministry says Chinese companies may be wary of Western sanctions. However, the Beijing government is ready to increase cooperation with Moscow.
